I know Claire a bit from conversations at gigs - she's very nice, and also pretty efficient in what she does, e.g. she has an excellent radio programme on jazz. Her trio is equally excellent, with the wonderful Gareth Williams on piano and guests like Gerard Presencer - in short you can expect the creme de la creme of UK artists to turn up on her gigs and recordings, which since they are for Linn are also pretty good sounding.
Her voice is more earthy than thin and wispy - plenty of body, and a nice ring to it. I enjoy her work a lot. I'd certainly recommend giving her a listen. She writes her own material - quite well though not earth breaking stuff - and sings an interesting selection of covers. I'd put her on a level with Diana Krall.
