I am not sure, though, what you mean by 'dark'. You've mentioned that you don't find Miles dark ... actually he's the first one that came to my mind when I saw "noir" jazz. Even discounting spooky tunes like "Odjenar" and the later Wayne Shorter tunes with dark sounding titles... a lot of his music sounds noir to me.

It's obviously a very subjective call. e.g. I find Shorter's solo on "Eighty One" (from the Miles' album ESP) especially chilling...
