I'm very sad to hear of Dewey Redman's death. More than once I've passed on going to see someone I really liked thinking there would be a next time - and there wasn't. Sam Rivers, Von Freeman, Fred Anderson, Roscoe Mitchell, Benny Golson, Hank Jones, Randy Weston, Cecil Taylor, Andrew Hill and doubtless many others not coming to mind are all at an age when any opportunity to see them could be your last chance. Mourn the passing of wonderful musicians like Dewey but go see the living while you have the chance!
