Hollywood may not be ready to release that one, but I understand mono mania. Many of these recordings are only now being reissued and rediscovered. After the introduction of stereo, pre-stereo classical LPs were generally only re-issued as special "historical" releases if at all, while a 1958 stereo LP could stay in print until the end of the LP era. A bummer for fans of any performer who died before 1958, even big names like Toscanini and Furtwangler (and Busch). Also a bummer for fans of performers like Szigeti and Backhaus, who lived into the stereo era but arguably made most of their better recordings in the mono era. Then came CDs, and for the most part stereo LPs were reissued on CD first. So if Mr. Johnsen likes a new Busch re-issue, that's great. Some of my all-time favorites are monos, even though the best-sounding of them have nowhere near the sound quality available today.
