A few years ago I had the 'pleasure' of attending a performance of the Shostakovich 7th with the SFS, Mark Wigglesworth conducting. I sat in the center terrace, and it was (very literally) deafening. Great performance, though. I also had the pleasure of hearing Temirkanov conduct the SFS in a sensational performance of the Dvorak 8th a few years ago. At that performance, they also did an encore (very rare for this to happen), which was Chabrier's Joyeuse Marche, also brilliantly performed.
