When Miles Davis & John Coltrane Live in Stockholm 1960 first came out on
Dragon, one of the MANY delights of that recording is Trane's exploring and
expanding musical paths within the context of "known" material, leading to
solos that led to his leaving that band soon after to explore further while NOT
having to be constrained by that same (old? no, just... done) material.
And that band was RIGHT with him.
That recording is a revelation of musical directions.
On the other hand, Miles Davis & Sonny Stitt Live in Stockholm
1960, while beyond competent, ain't nearly so satisfying IMO.
