Jazz Alley From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz! |

I was looking for a nice jazz concert to play in the background while I worked on building a 6C4C preamp..... First stop Miles in Italy with Carter, Hancock, Williams and Shorter. I found that pretty disappointing given the musicians playing - probably a typical "night on tour" gig. Nothing the really sparked, plus I really don't like Miles' noodling around in this period (others disagree).
So I turned to Chick Corea, who always has a spark about him. This was totally not a "typical night on tour". It's absolutely unique - four masters of their instruments playing beyond even what you expect from them, which is a lot to begin with. It's experimental, it takes risks, it goes into atonality, it has some utterly amazing virtuoso moments. Not surprisingly the crowd were going wild and cheering to the rafters. Wow - jazz at white heat. What a stunning rhythm section!
