Home Jazz Alley

From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz!

"Don't necessarily like jazz" is a not correct. See my response to

Rick W above with a picture of a Benny Golson LP. I do like some jazz and have a decent collection so far(see small sample below). Heck, I even took my son to the Village Vanguard in New York and saw Javon Jackson playing the sax.

The original post was about my disappointment with the well advertised Sonny Rollins in Holland LP and CD box sets. The LP set is not cheap at $69, and fortunately, my son only spent $20 on the CD set. A lot of effort was done to produce this beautiful set, but for me, it was not what I was expecting. The recording caused some of my disappointment, and the other reasons I clearly stated in my posts.

You are correct in that I do prefer "soft" music, but not soft like Kenny G. Even Chet Baker is occasionally too soft for me, but I have a few of his records as well. It also depends on the time of day, and I don't think I am alone there. I listen mostly at late night due to family restrictions.

I feel like I am talking to a shrink, so it's time to stop the personal stuff. ;^)
