If it comes to be, it will be a sad day indeed. Blues Alley went through a spell in the 90s and 00s where I didn't care for a lot of their bookings. Too much smooth stuff, R&B, and popish vocalists. But over the past 5 years, its been getting better and better. Cyrus Chestnut, Yoko Miwa, Christian McBride, Corcoran Holt, Otis Taylor to name just a handful of acts I have heard there in the not too distant past.
DC has already lost Twins; we cannot afford to loose too many more clubs. The city needs to preserve its heritage as a once great Jazz mecca. And, I sure hope it doesn't move to the burbs.
