I first heard David Sanborn at a James Taylor concert years ago ('80's). He did a killer solo on "How Sweet It Is"...standing ovation. Of course he's become a star In his own right now but his "smooth" jazz just never did it for me. However, if you listen closely you can still hear his blues influences...ie, David 'fathead" Newman, Hank Crawford etc.
