I was playing a tune from Jimmy Heath's Little Man, Big Band album on my WPFW show yesterday morning as part of a set celebrating the music and legacy of Mr. Heath. This was the big band album that earned him a Grammy nomination. Reading the liner notes in preparation for back announcing the set, I noticed that Cauldio Roditi was a member of the trumpet section. They died two days apart 20 years apart in age. Kind of spooky.
