According to my Chicago Manual of Style, nouns and adjectives designiating cultural styles, movements, and schools--artistic, architectural, musical, and so forth--and their adherents are capitalized if derived from proper nouns. Others are usually lowercased, though a few, (e.g. Cynic, Scholastic) are capitalized to distinguish them from the generic words used in everyday speech. So:
art deco
baroque
Hellenism
RomanesqueMy interpretation of this is that jazz (the movement, not the team), generally speaking, should be lowercased.
