I was desperate at my local mall store and came up with this today:Trans-global Underground "Impossible Broadcasting"
I had their self-titled release from 2001 and liked it so I figured I was safe. Looking at the song line up and featured artists/vocalists this album is true to its name. Natacha Atlas played with them in the 90's. This album is fusion world beat with dance, reggae, indian, dub and spoken word/political message influence. Thats quite a wide range and right up my alley. I really enjoyed it. Guest vocalists include Tatapound, Yanka Rupkina and others. Ineresting tunes to my ears were "The Sikman and the Rasta" (indian/reggae fusion) "Yellow and Black Taxi Cab" political statement about cabs selectivly choosing passengers and "Cikan" a rereleased remix by Somalias Tatapound. Radio Unfree Europe is also nice. The copy I bought is a 2005 release on Triloka records but it actually came out in July of 2004 on a smaller label and was picked up by Triloka/Artemis.
