Today's hip tunes. New music that isn't Classic Rock or Jazz!

Hey Tony: 3 new ones

Do you like Lisa Gerrard/DCD?

Vas, - Feast of Silence, - similar, a little less powerful and dramatic, more varied and complex percussion though. Drumming is a big plus, - pretty good. Singing not close to Lisa, but still good, no male vocal. If you enjoy DCD and are in the mood for something that is a little bit derivative of DCD, - it's pretty good.

Finally!! Got "Opalescent" by Jon Hopkins. Crazy expensive. Nice stuff, kind of mellow, ambient, folky. Leo Abrahams is all over it too. Interesting sounds and affects. Hopkins and Abrahams are all over the new Eno recording, - as you know. No, I have it on now, - this is a GREAT CD.... (just don't be in a Clash kind of mood when you put it on)! :-)

Also, picked up Steve Roach and Vidna Obama, "well of souls." I don't like this one so much. It has a 4 songs per CD in a two CD set and alot of it is one long sustained, highly affected chord or note. It's pretty droned out, with little rhythm and no melody. I kind of felt like it was done before and like to hear more going on... I have Innerzone on my list by them, - but I'm not going to get it until i get a chance to listen first.

Anyway, - thought that I'd share.

Cheers,
