Hip Pop Stop

Today's hip tunes. New music that isn't Classic Rock or Jazz!

Orient Expressions, - "Divan" on Doublemoon Records.
Kevin Johannsen, - "Sur O No Sur."
Both are probably considered World Music, - but should't we be keeping Hip Pop alive??
Orient Expressions is really well recorded, downtempo-dancey music from Turkey with some incredibly interesting sounds and grooves, - really refreshing yet not without passion. Folks in the US might have to go through Amazon-UK as I did to grab this one...
Sur O No Sur is a very gypsy-like, super fun, and lighthearted play on hispanic/american language and culture. Very good musicianship, but not your serious, - "I have to impress" playing. Very, very, fun, a nice antidote to serious Flamenco/gypsy music/pop star stuff....
