Not to get into a discussion about the effectiveness of the USPS, but in their defense, the price of shipping goods has gone up dramatically in the past 7 years, from insurance to fuel to drivers, all trucking rates have gone up significantly. And, even with the proposed increase, it still only costs 41 cents to send a letter all the way across the country. Not too bad!
