Today's hip tunes. New music that isn't Classic Rock or Jazz!

i've heard thievery corp. and krueder & dorfmeister

i can't recall how they sounded, but i thought that thievery corp. and K&D sounded alot like what i call "generic house music" as much electronic music sounds exactly the same to me. i'll have to give them a second listen though as now my priorities have changed a little.

as a recommendation to you, you might like:
nightmares on wax: smoker's delight
cabaret voltaire: plasticity
and
dubnology (various artists)
as these discs offer some nice laid back electronic music without the "every track sounds like every other band that wants to do electronic but sounds like boring house music" patience strain. i've hated probably 80% of the electronic bands i've heard (or more) as they all do the same "thumpthumpthumpthump" junk with the same effects. oh... don't get me started on "technotronic"! LOL

i bought the 4 disc "dubnology" collection without any clue to what it was and was amazed at the sheer variety on the disc. it makes references to genres such as industrial and house, but without going all the way in and losing it's flavor. it's a pretty funky collection. i'm picky, but every disc side has at least 3-4 decent tracks and many others aren't bad. considering how crappy and unoriginal many of the popular electronic bands i've heard like "the chemical brothers" or "the something or other twins" (something to that effect, whatever they're called) are, this disc came as quite a surprise to me.

i'll take a listen to your list soon. i got burned out on auditions after so many R&B dead ends earlier today.
