jazz1,You might take a listen to Sigiswald Kuijken's recordings of the violin stuff. They're on a 2 CD set from Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (77043-2-RG). He's playing a baroque violin, and I really like the tone — as well as his approach. It feels more warm than hot.
