Up front, my post here is all meant as a little light-hearted (humorous) thinking out loud!:-)...Is not the creation of an all-female orchestra totally ironic, given the current state of demands for equality and equal access?
Is an all-female orchestra inclusive? Or, is it exclusive?
If a current member decides to go transgender, ala Elliot Page, will they be fired?
Is it really a "blind audition" when one eye, by definition, must surely be open?
It seems that a small ensemble of, say, a Duo, Trio, Quartet of a single gender has never drawn attention. Funny how a larger group feels the need to call it out.
Just curious...what is the intrinsic artistic benefit of all-female? It seems to me to be absoulutely ZERO. It is simply a marketing device.
Finally...
ORrrrrr (wait for it!:-)........perhaps the group is simply more comfortable in the post-concert locker room together.
OK, now I am done!:-)
