More time and experience? I first listened to those Kempe recordings back in the 1970s when they came out in the states on noisy Seraphim Lps. I have four iterations of most of these recordings, the Seraphims, the German import box, the several three-box sets of EMI CDs, and now the Warmer remasters.
The horn concertos on these discs are just weird.
