Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Yes - thanks! I pointed that out to Ms. CfL. . .

. . . who is Ernst Bacon's daughter, thus making Ernst Bacon my father-in-law.

MWI has now reviewed that recording THREE different times! (And very favorably each time.) And the interesting thing about that piece (Bacon's Piano Trio No. 2) is that Ms. CfL and I assisted in getting the parts ready for the very first performance. This was when music notation software was first starting to become available on computers, and we used it to print out parts for the violin and cello. (I don't remember if what we used was a very early version of Finale, or some predecessor of Finale.) In any case, since we did not have any MIDI capability at that time, the process was EXTREMELY slow, like the proverbial molasses in January - so much so that we did not have time to get a piano part out. So at the first rehearsal, the violinist and cellist had these nice, clean, computer-printed parts, while the pianist was having to struggle playing from a photocopy of the manuscript. He was not a happy camper! ;-)

I'm even considering asking MWI if they'd like a FOURTH review of that album, just so I can once again tell the story above - LOL!
