reply with a slur, "Negre." You may well ask why that word has been changed? No, you prefer to make a dismissive comment about that fact. I applaud and appreciate Chinese and Chinese-American participation in and contributions to Western music, period; these achievements are not in music of their culture, largely. Black contributions have sprung not only from them playing European-styled music, but incorporating spirituals, blues, jazz, and other Black music. There simply is no other music tradition, especially so regarding American "classical" music, that has anywhere near that influence.I laugh outright when I hear the toothless saw of "hard-work" applied to Asians. Are they more so than other immigrants, or are the Communist Chinese harder working than others? It truly is wonderful you know one such hard-worker; of course, I'm sure you know that to make all-encompassing general statements from personal experience is ignorance of a rather common sort? Since you parroted this stereotype, I just wondered if you swallowed whole hog the other balderdash. about Asians. I suppose, since your emotions are dragging you around the stage, that I'd better mention that I don't subscribe to those sorts of limiting and erroneous characterizations, at all.
It is more than fair to ask you about your feelings regarding harmful epithets applied to Asians since you obviously think it's humorous when so applied to African-Americans.
My thread, mind you, began with an article about Black musical accomplishments. Interesting you have little to say on that. I am surprised and applaud you for not brining in, for once, rap/hip-hop into a discussion about Blacks and "longhair"music.
