Gergiev of course has made a lot of recordings and videos (some live), so I guess each of us can decide for ourselves if he stunk. Myself, I would hardly put him in the "stunk" category, even though he has come out with a "stinker" recording every now and then (but also some pretty sublime recordings too). Again, I doubt he would have been hired with the LSO and with the Munich PO if he really stunk - but I guess one never knows! ;-)
