Classical Court From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here. |

Joyful, playful, elegant and occasionally mysterious music, (and yes, the final pages of the first mov't are as eerie and immediate (!) as I remember from Lp listening. Solo violin harmonics +flute? Must look at score.)
But the recording! From the first notes: great sense of hall space, wide and deep orchestral spread, pianos in front tossing theme from left to right, and on and on. Breathing room! Silky strings! Beats the Lortie Chandos by a long shot, in two channel, based upon what I value in a recording, and via my equipment and listening room. (Hopefully adequate enough fine print print for this tough crowd.)
"Free" for those who stream, and available by the track, (all three tracks $1.49 each) at Qobuz and Presto.
Do give it a try. I sincerely enjoyed every minute.
