Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

It's a wonderful work - aka "Dawn Over the Moscow River"

It's incredibly atmospheric and beautiful.

I haven't heard the Sheffield recording you're referring to, but I love that company's minimalist microphone approach to the recordings they did in LA with Leinsdorf (Wagner, Debussy, Stravinsky).

Other recordings of the work I like include Svetlanov (he made many recordings of it, but I think there was one on the Japanese Canyon/Exton label which I really liked), Vedernikov/Bolshoi on Pentatone, and the Russian NO with Carlo Ponti (the son of Sophia Loren!), also on Pentatone.

And you're right: there are no "afterludes" - but there are postludes! ;-)
