Both the pianist and the orchestra were superlative....... It's been a while since I've heard a recent performance of the Gershwin classic that I thought was comparable to the Earl Wilds and Philippe Entremonts who performed this work (with Fielder/Boston Pops and Ormandy/Philly respectively) fabulously in the past..... The clarinet parts, in particular, were well above the norm. This really was an "all star" orchestra. There are a lot of "erotic" pianists out there..... It seems like Lola Astanova is a rare one who also has the goods on the musical side of things........
