Annie Fischer's Beethoven Op 111 Arietta: Last Two Variations




Darn Beethoven, how do you bring out a note in a melody when it's also part of a delicate trill?

My admiration for Fischer continues. Cued video below encapsulates just about everything I admire: the quick establishment of mood, adequate buildup to climaxes, just enough rubato to tease without destroying overall structure, astonishingly-strong left hand, (listen to the clarity of voices/counterpoint below the belt!), and melody (G, before fig. 35) intact as harmony relaxes into a balmy CM.
