Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Another interesting thing about Albrecht is that. . .

. . . once he left the CzPO, he conducted quite a bit of the less often played Czech music with the German orchestras he worked with later ( and recorded with, mostly for the Orfeo label). I remember reading that Prime Minister Havel once complained the Albrecht didn't have a clue as to how to conduct Czech music - so what was he doing as principal conductor of the Czech Philharmonic? I wonder if all those Orfeo recordings of Czech repertoire were made in order to prove Havel (and Albrecht's other Czech detractors) wrong? ;-)

I mean, who outside of the Czech Republic records such Dvorak operas as, "The Devil and Kate", "The King and the Charcoal Burner", "Wanda", "Armida", "The Jacobin", etc.? That's pretty stalwart advocacy IMHO, especially since these recordings were all done, IIRC, with German companies (even if many of the soloists were Czech).
