Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

You could be right about the "other" Petrenko

I see he's got a new Rimsky-Korsakov album on the Norwegian Lawo label. I obtained a hi-rez MCh DXD (i.e., 24/352.8) download of his Scriabin Symphony No. 3 (Divine Poem) and Le Poeme de l'extase on the same label. It's the only DXD recording I've obtained which I've been slightly disappointed by - not because of Petrenko and the Oslo PO, but because the engineering sounds (to me at least) a bit cramped. In fact, I prefer the LSO Live recordings with Gergiev (in the notorious Barbican Hall), even though they're only DSD64.

I hope he gets some better engineering with the RPO! (Even so, I still might take a chance on the latest Rimsky release I mentioned - I'm a glutton for punishment sometimes!)
