I am talking in broad concepts as it seems there was some debate about dipole vs. open baffle. I think an open baffle must be a dipole but you could make a dipole without using an open baffle if you wanted to. It is not about electrostatic vs. moving coil open baffle. Yes, speaker baskets and stators could modify the radiation pattern but they are still broadly dipolar. Linkwitz came into the discussion as Inmate51 commented that the Linkwitz bass unit is a dipole but doesn't roll off like one and that is because it is equalized to compensate for the dipole roll-off.
