I think an open baffle speaker must also be a dipole. You could make a dipole with a closed box with drivers on opposite sides of the box radiating in-phase (correction - I originally posted anti-phase by mistake)Linkwitz's bass unit does have both drivers move in the same direction to mimic the action of a single larger drive unit in a slimmer enclosure. The output is a dipole radiation pattern, figure-of-8 not omni-directional.
