General audio topics that don't fit into specific categories.

It was a hobby.

The hobby sort of goes away with "one and done". At my peak, I had a vinyl setup (the tonearm was purchased separate from the turntable) which included a SUT or pre-preamp, a CDP, a tapedeck and a tuner. I used a tube pre with a SS amp (actually 2 + an active XO for biamping). I also use headphones with a separate headamp. Naturally all this involves a mess of cables and PCs. With regard to the Asylum, I no longer visit a host of forums (Cables, DIY, Tubes, Tuners, Digital, Tweaks and, since I had to sell my Maggies do to downsizing into a condo, the Speaker and Planar forums. A DAC and Raspberry PI replaced the CDP and the tuner. The tuner went away when the local classical music station went digital. So I had an unlimited set of choices and decisions and things to do unrelated to listening. The audiophile hobby lead to other things such as electronics.

Bottom line a single unit such as the Devialet pretty much would be a nail in the coffin of this hobby. I would just be left listening to the music :).
