Strange Fuse Direction Side Effect..........

I had a Synergistic Master fuse in my high efficiency system line stage..... On a whim, I decided to reverse the direction of the fuse, to find out the effect on the system's sound......

Now I preferred the sound in the new direction.... Could be placebo effect.....

BUT......

Prior to the fuse direction change, there was a faint, intermittent high-frequency tone coming through the right channel.... (I earlier determined this was coming from the line stage, it was there when running different amplifiers.) It was not overly obtrusive, but I figured I'd eventually have to change out the tubes to get rid of this noise issue...

But after the fuse direction change, this faint, intermittent high-pitched tone had gone away....

Since I did prefer the sound in the new fuse direction, I decided to leave the line stage alone for now... But I didn't expect a change like this to "fix" the noise issue in the right channel..... I am at a loss for how or why this may have occurred. (I'm kind of reluctant to try the original fuse direction just to find out if the problem would return. "If it ain't broke... " ... )
