For the RCA Living Stereos, there have been two independent series of SACD's - one from Soundmirror and a later one from Analogue Productions. In cases where I have both, I've slightly preferred the Analogue Productions SACD's. But Analogue Productions has some titles which they announced three years ago and which, although already released on vinyl, STILL haven't been released on SACD yet! Grr!
For the Mercury SACD's, some - the ones derived from 35mm magnetic film masters - were done by Emil Berliner Studios in 24/176.4 and then converted (transcoded?) to DSD for release on SACD. I forget whether Wilma had final approval on those. The non-35mm magnetic film masters were all remastered for SACD by Wilma herself. The more recent Tom Fine remasters have not been released on SACD and have stuck to two channel, with some available in 24/96 (apparently not the current Paray/Detroit series though). I don't see why Tom Fine's remasters couldn't be done in even higher resolution and in three channels, just as on the masters. In an interview, he's even talked about trying to remaster these Mercury recordings ex post facto in Dobly Atmos - c'mon Tom! Get with it!
