Theoretically I agree with you 100%. As I've pointed out many times on this thread in practice the dynamic range of CDs is aggressively compressed. Where did the 90 dB dynamic range come from? Maybe from the aggressive salesmanship. Ever heard of the Loudness Wars?

Surely you don't think all CDs have the same dynamic range.

In addition, there is also the negative influences of external vibration, internal vibration, vibration of the CD itself, scattered laser light and RFI that diminish the Dynamic Range no matter how much you have to begin with (theoretically or otherwise).
