that if I wanted a remote control feature (which I really needed), I simply needed to sell my old preamp and buy something new with that feature. You can mod an old preamp with an Alps, but that can get messy. A cheap solution is to place the preamp next to your listening position and run long interconnects under rugs. You should post what you have as a preamp, and maybe someone can give you a better input than mine.
