Season 1 is now streaming on Prime and there's LOTS of soul
in it's many forms on this WNET/PBS series that spanned
1968-1973, an incredibly vibrant time in (particularly) Black
Music and the Arts in the USA.
Watched two episodes tonight with McCoy Tyner Quartet, Taj Mahal, Bill Withers and others.
Just those three had wonderful performances.
Lots more than music though - spoken word, actors, authors (looking forward to the Chester
Himes episode), politicians, artists, et al.
Casual set that slowly morphs into a faux "nightclub" sort of setting, good energy, honest,
intelligent interviews with Producer Ellis Haizlip this is an exciting variety show I'd never
previously had access to.
For the past 50 years yet...
