Thanks for your suggestion. In my case the room is overloaded and all positions from the rear wall to within 1 meter of the speaker position present that bump to various levels, +10 dB being the least. I could of course reduce the overall level to that speaker, but that would silence 10 other frequency steps from 20 Hz through 80 Hz and 125 Hz.
I appreciate the reminder that seating position can change what the listener perceives due to room node locations. In my previous setup I would often lean into an acoustically recorded performance to appreciate a better soundstage with better definition of individual instruments. The lean-in was only a matter of 1.5 to 2 feet. Yet it made a great difference in perception.
