RE: Seeking suggestions on 100 Hz 10+ dB attenuation (long)

Here is an off the wall suggestion that is worth a try. Trying to electronically adjust that level of attenuation is going to be difficult.

Whilst at University my undergrad dissertation was on the impacts of road traffic noise. I would record traffic noise at roadside and then play it back through a high quality speaker in a heavily damped acoustic room, a sort of poor mans ancheonic chamber. I had proper Bruel & Kjer test equipment to work with. We found that the DIN C recording standard gave the best correlation between sound level and perceived nuisance of the traffic noise.

But the bit relevant to you is how we adjusted the subjects seating position relative to the speaker. It was clear from measurements that at about a 100Hz we would generate a standing wave of sound between the front and rear walls. By moving the seat back and forth you would have high level or almost no bass. So this is a long winded way of saying try moving your seating position back and forth to reach a bass level you are happy with. Then apply electronic correction.

Good Luck

Dave
