I use a suction cup type rubber bath mat. The suction cup side attaches to the shelf and the speaker sits on the flat side.
The rubber mats are relatively soft, grippy, and resistant to slipping and sliding.
Plus easy to cut to size (slightly smaller than the speaker base).
