RE: Stabilant 22 deteriorating?

I guess Geoff linked a paper stating it is Tweek......

I once used the Tweek version of the product on some interconnect cables.... It made the terminations oxidize, looked like what you'd see on an old car battery. (The Tweek came in a narrow insulin syringe, except it had a thin flexible plastic tube where the "needle" would have been.)

The person I once knew took apart his BRB 200 amplifier (a fave at the time- I owned one briefly), and applied the Tweek to the "edge connectors" on the circuit cards inside the unit..... The amp failed a couple months later..... He sent the amp to BRB for warranty work (he initially didn't suspect the contact enhancer being the culprit), the techs thought he spilled something into the amplifier, they told him the edge connectors were all oxidized, and it voided the warranty.

He had the amp repaired (had to pay for it), and the fried parts were included with the returned amp.... The edge connectors had "green crud" on them, very similar to what I saw on the interconnect cables.

Whether the Tweek may have been fake or defective, I don't know..... But it was purchased at an authorized Sumiko dealer.
