Reproducing the live event as faithfully as possible. If the performance is altered, even in the name of "enhancement" or "improvement", the essence of the live event is compromised. It would be like taking high-quality photos of photoshopped pictures, the enhancements ruin everything.
I'll say it again, can you imagine someone spending hours trying to get the midrange right on his audio system, not realizing the entire time that the problem with the midrange was the Auto-Tune on the recording........
