Frank Sinatra's Hi-Fi, circa 1947

Frank Sinatra's desert hide-away was more than just a place where he and Ava Gardner could tear each other to shreds: It appears that when thrown open to guests on New Year's Eve December 31 1946, it had a State of the Art 78 rpm hi-fi, as well as the ability to cut acetates.

I love reading books about architecture theory and history, and in a book of Julius Shulman's architectural photograpy, I found a black and white shot of Sinatra's built-in hi-fi, circa 1947.

I can only assume that the speakers were up at ceiling level in a soffit, or that they were built-in recessed ceiling speakers.
