I did a calculation - I bought my first "good" stereo system in 1978 - it met all of the criteria listed two sources (turntable and cassette deck) - no significant costs for wiring (I wash't an "audiophile" then)
I spent $1050 for the system new. Using an online calculator for inflation it spit out $3850 as the inflation adjusted cost
