There is a better mix of experienced enthusiasts collaborating with local manufacturers and designers. the Scalford show is an example.
Also, medium to large-scale 'bake-offs' take place, where enthusiast set up mini shows and comparison events themselves. This is quite popular, more local and more meaningful to listeners and to the relationships they are able to set up and sustain. These happen in peoples' homes or small venue locations.
What you're proposing is very costly and I suspect some evidence of likely return would make sense. But maybe the market is irretrievably changing?
