This is why you need to attend live concerts..... Preferably unamplified..... What happens is you dial in your system to sound like what you heard at the concerts (it's impossible to truly replicate that sound, but get as close as you can)..... And if you become satisfied it's close enough, and you realize more expensive is not always better, only then your urge to blow money on more gear will wane.
Or to state this a different way, someone may have a sound that's relatively close to the real thing, but if he's not sure if it's the case (because he hasn't heard enough live music), he'll likely be more inclined to spend money to make the sound "even better".... Where it might end up making the sound worse.
