Cat5e is fine up to Gigabit speeds, and I'd recommend all Gigabit routers and switches. No 10/100 stuff need apply.
Other than phones, iPads and such, we are 100% Ethernet here and happy for it. No more drop outs with the SONOS system, even with TIDAL or QOBUZ Lossless FLAC.
We are lucky to have Gigabit Fiber all the way into the house. Would not have been aware that all of the phone lines in the place were done 10 years ago with Cat5e had the Sonic Fiber guy pointed it out when he installed the service a few months ago.
