New to the Asylum and hope I am posting in the correct forum. I have a Pioneer VSX-823 AV Receiver of which I have connected my old Sansui 838 turntable. I am unable to get any good sound output from the turntable. Turntable works fine just not very loud at all. My question is, do I need a preamp to get the sound I was accustomed to getting on my old receiver (Sansui receiver that no longer works)? The VSX-823 does not have a specific phono connection on the back. The owner's manual states to hook up to the CD or Analog 1 port and says Analog IN1 audio input terminal is assigned to CD under factory settings. I have done so, but the sound output is weak. Any help or suggestions is appreciated and thank you for your time.
