On the topic of name/acronym uncertainty, I should note for readers that the B&K discussed in this thread is not the same company as the BrĂ¼el & Kjaer (B&K) professional sound/vibration measurement instrumentation company headquartered in Denmark, and for which AA inmate BigGuyInATL works.
I'd always thought it to be a little tacky for a hifi company to ride on the name recognition coattails of a world-reknown instrumentation company. Now, they've also got "API", which is unrelated to the API that professional audio engineers know.
