You make a good case for keeping old disconnected cellphones around. I might have to dig mine up and just keep it in my bug out bag. I -believe- they are capable of dialing 911 for help even if service is disconnected. But if I truly need a bug out bag, I would imagine that civilization as we know it has ended and no one will answer my 911 anyhow. Never mind. ;-)
